Trip Escort
Adults with developmental disabilities enjoy educational field trips, recreational outings and the opportunity to have dinner out. To make these outings possible, Trip Escorts accompany clients and staff. Volunteers assist with wheel chairs, converse with clients and make their trip a truly enjoyable day away.
Successful trip escorts are patient, kind, courteous and have a "fun attitude." The physical stamina to walk around a mall, festival, or theme park is essential.
Activities: . Accompany clients and staff on one excursion per month. . Meet with Key Training Center staff for a briefing immediately prior to the outing. . Escort the client(s) during the outing. . Assist the client with food as necessary. . Converse with the client(s). . Report any difficulties or need for personal care to accompanying staff. . Return with group to point of origin unless otherwise instructed.
Requirements: . Extensive background screening . Once monthly, hours dependent on type of outing . The physical ability to walk the distance required for the trip (dependent on the type of outing) . Some volunteers are needed who can push wheel chairs . Good interpersonal skills . Sense of humor and ability to have fun . Attend orientation and training . TB test
