Special Events Coordinators
Special events help to educate the members of the community about the issues involving individuals who have developmental disabilities and mental retardation. Funds raised by such events help provide services beyond basic care for those who are challenged by such disabilities.
Events coordinators are true people persons. They are able to inspire others to get involved and help a worthy cause. Public relations skills are a must. Successful candidates are organized, detail oriented,creative and outgoing.
Activities:
- Recruit committee members.
- Delegate responsibilities and hold designees responsible for their
assigned duties.
- Secure sponsors.
- Sell tickets for event.
- Plan for refreshments and secure vendors.
- Arrange seating.
- Develop a theme and/or name for event.
- Secure decorations as needed.
- Secure entertainment as needed.
- Other duties as necessary to insure a successful event.
Requirements:
- Chair committee for one event per year
- 4 - 6 month commitment
- Average 10 hours per week for the commitment
- Extensive background screening
- Orientation and Training
- TB Test
