Handy Person

BuddiesThe Key Thrift Stores provide valuable income to support programs for the developmentally disabled, training sites for clients to develop skills that will lead to employment, and a service to community residents providing merchandise at an affordable price. Donated items are frequently in need of repair and must be discarded. The Handy Person recycles many of these items through cleaning or making minor repairs.

The Handy Person works behind the scenes but must be kind, considerate, and patient because of regular contact with the general public and with program participants. The individual should be able to make repairs on small appliances and/or furniture.

Activities:

  • Sort donations.
  • Check appliances to determine if repairs are necessary.
  • Make minor repairs.
  • Make minor repairs on furniture.
  • Clean spots on upholstery.

Requirements:

  • Able to work a minimum of one 2 to 4 hour shift weekly
  • Must be available when stores are open for business Monday through
    Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Extensive background screening
  • Orientation and Training
  • TB Test
